#TWO HOUR WARGAMES YAHOO GROUP ARCHIVE#
The Yahoo Group will still serve as an archive of files that will always be accessible, but our customer service has moved here. From the events list description: 'Players. Ed the Two Hour Wargames guy of Two Hour Wargames writes: With going into too much detail, we've decided to move from Yahoo Groups to the forum format. The scenario was titled 'The Raid' and was run by Al Maurer of Askari Miniatures using his lovely North African colonial figures. While at MilleniumCon last weekend, I played in a game using Ed Teixeira's new Two Hour Wargames rules Colonial Adventures. Players who enlisted on the Black Flame side were Ron Gros, Justin Touhy, and Walter, who's last name I didn't get. Comments on 2HWG's Colonial Adventures Rules. There is also a 2-squad motorcycle platoon. The Garibaldis have a 3-squad infantry platoon with one LMG. The Black Flames have a 2-squad infantry platoon, supported by a Brixia mortar and 3 x 元/35 tankettes. Thereafter, the Italians fought their own civil war centered around a country villa called the Ibarra Palace.

Attempts to woo the CTV over to the Republican side with propaganda leaflets broke down when several mutilated Garibali corpses were found with the leaflets stuck in their mouths. As the light tanks of the Black Flames advanced, they were fired upon by machine guns of the Garibaldis, who did not at first realize that they too were fighting their fellow Italians. As always, Duane was an enormous help in setting up the game.īrothers in Arms - Brihuega, Spain, March 12, 1937Įlements of the Italian Black Flames Division, having encountered a motorcycle patrol of the Republican Garibaldi Batallion, mistakenly assumed that these Italians were part of another Italian division. The it was time to set up my game, Brothers in Arms, using NUTS! 2.0. (This would later haunt me.) Darrin declared the game a victory for the Flying Tigers, since we shot down 2/3 of the Betty's with our P-40s.ĭuane Guilbeau and I adjurned to the Ugly Dog Saloon a block away for some good barbeque. I fired ineffectively for most of the game, got hit a couple of time inconsequentialy, and finally downed a Betty with a lucky shot (fuel tank explodes) just before it exited the table. One Betty was shot down by Larry Touhy about halfway thru the game.

Saturday, I arrived at 9 and got into the Knight's Cross game being run by Darrin Mesinna, Flying Tigers vs a flight of Betty's accompanied by Zero's. All the really interesting 1/144 aircraft had already been snapped up.

There was a nice crowd already playing, and since I was in between runs and couldn't play anything, I went over and talked to Mike Bobe of Bobe's Hobby Shop in the dark under the stairs. 12, to pick up my packet so I'd be ready to get going at opening on Saturday. I'm not anymore of a fan of Yahoo than the next guy but I realize that they provide a lot for what they charge ($0).I stopped in Friday, Aug. That may not be a problem for some groups that want a more focused audience but your typical "open to the public" 1000+ member group with a lot of activity will be very different once you move away from YG to a forum.

It's pull versus push and push will always win when you are measuring it by amount of information being produced and consumed. So you not only have far fewer posts but you also have far, far fewer people reading those posts that are made. In the AMW Yahoo Group I found variant rules in the Files section, which took the basic OHW rules and tweaked them for either different periods or to add more flavour for specific periods. That's even worse than you might think because a lot of people will read something that is posted to a YG and sent to them in email but the vast majority of those people will not stop in the forum on a regular basis (assuming they even register) and will likely not even see the post when they do. Before I got One Hour Wargames I did some fishing around on the 'net to see what other people thought of it and read about the games they played. The problem with moving to a forum is that you will lose half or more of your current membership and see a huge drop in posts. Those happen to be the same people who own the groups and can make the decision to go somewhere else. It's mostly the people who moderate who are suffering and getting tired of the crap they have to go through. is on hand on the Fields of Fire Forum and the yahoo group to answer questions. I don't think the majority of YG users even know about the problems. Dont know too much about Two Hour wargames, my only previous experience.
